April 5, 2017- Each April the South Carolina Department of Social Services joins the statewide leaders and local community partners such as Children’s Trust of South Carolina, the state’s affiliate organization for Prevent Child Abuse America, in acknowledgment of child abuse neglect.

Marking Child and Adult Care Food Program Week

March 10, 2017 – The South Carolina Department of Social Services (SC DSS) Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), in cooperation with End Child Hunger SC, recognizes March 12 through March 18 as CACFP Week. During this week, we raise awareness of programs serving nutritious meals and snacks to children and adults in care facilities.

DSS Celebrates National Social Workers Month; DSS’ Richland County Teneka Payne Named MDT Participant of the Year

March 9, 2017 - The South Carolina Department of Social Services (DSS) recognizes March as National Social Workers Month. “We recognize Social Work Month to thank our human and economic case workers for their hard work, perseverance and service to the community year round,” said DSS Director Susan Alford. She continued, “This month we’d like to show our appreciation to our staff who have been recognized by the community.”
