DSS Co-Sponsors Orangeburg Career Fair

Who: South Carolina Department of Social Services (DSS) Economic Services Workforce Development and Human Resources Team What: DSS, along with other community partners, is sponsoring this job fair open to all, as well as recruiting social workers and other career areas. In addition, a Job Readiness Training session will be held Tuesday, July 18, 9:00 a.m. at the same location featuring workforce development seminars on Interviewing Skills, including Mock Interviews, Workshops on Resume Preparation and Dress for Success.

Notice of Abandonment - Greenwood July 2017

GREENWOOD, SC -- Greenwood County Department of Social Services officials report that an infant was born on July 13, 2017, in Self Regional Hospital Greenwood County. The baby was abandoned and left in the care of medical professionals at the hospital on July 14, 2017. Upon the information and belief of the agency, the child falls under the jurisdiction for “Daniel’s Law,” the Safe Haven for Abandoned Babies Act.

DSS Names New Williamsburg County Director

Columbia, SC – The South Carolina Department of Social Services (SCDSS) named Tara Bradshaw as Director of Williamsburg County DSS on June 2, 2017. Ms. Bradshaw has been serving as Interim County Director in Williamsburg since the retirement of Barbara Parrott in September 2016.

DSS Names New Laurens County Director

Columbia, SC – The South Carolina Department of Social Services (SCDSS) named Avery Martin as Director of Laurens County DSS on May 18, 2017. Martin replaces Kenneth McBride, Newberry County Director, who served as interim for Laurens from May 2016 until May 17, 2017.

Update to SNAP Income Reminder

Some SNAP households may have received an Income Reminder notice informing them of when it is mandatory to report the household’s income to the Agency. The gross monthly income limit for the household size included in the notice was incorrect.

News
