SCDSS Celebrates Child and Adult Care Food Program Week

March 11, 2024 - The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), a federally-funded program operated by the South Carolina Department of Social Services’ (SCDSS) Division of Early Care and Education, is celebrating healthy food and nutrition during CACFP Week, held March 10th-16th. CACFP strives to combat hunger and promote better nutrition in South Carolina by reimbursing child care centers, adult care centers, child care homes, afterschool programs, and emergency shelters that serve USDA-qualified healthy meals and snacks.

DSS Announces New Abbeville County Director

Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina Department of Social Services would like to announce Tammy Patton as the new Abbeville County Director. She began her new position on Monday, March 4th.

DSS Charges Dorchester County Woman with Food Stamp Fraud

March 6, 2024- On March 5, 2024, Special Agents with the South Carolina Department of Social Services, Office of Inspector General, arrested a Dorchester County woman in connection with fraudulently receiving $9,584.00 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

DSS Charges Berkeley County Woman with Food Stamp Fraud

March 5, 2024- On February 29, 2024, Special Agents with the South Carolina Department of Social Services, Office of Inspector General, arrested a Berkeley County woman in connection with fraudulently receiving $13,941 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

DSS Charges Dillon County Woman with Food Stamp Fraud

March 1, 2024- On February 28, 2024, Special Agents with the South Carolina Department of Social Services, Office of Inspector General, arrested a Dillon County woman in connection with fraudulently receiving $29,797 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
