DSS Announces New Chester County Director

Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina Department of Social Services would like to announce Dianne Stevenson as the new Chester County Director. She began her new position on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Mrs. Stevenson’s career with the South Carolina Department of Social Services began in 2004. She has extensive experience with the child welfare system, gaining comprehensive experience in Intake, Investigation, Family Preservation, and Foster Care. In addition to her work in Child Welfare, she also worked with the Adult Protective Services (APS) division.

“This is more than a career; it is a fulfilling purpose. I am passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of individuals, both personally and professionally,” said Mrs. Stevenson. “As I embark on this next chapter as the Director of Chester County, I am excited to bring my knowledge and experience to collaborate with our dedicated staff and community partners. Together, we will continue to enhance the support and ser-vices available to residents of Chester County.”

Mrs. Stevenson is a native of Blackstock, SC. She graduated from Winthrop University with a BSW and served as a field instructor for Winthrop interns at the York County Department of Social Services for many years.
