DSS Announces New Pickens County Director

Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina Department of Social Services would like to announce Cynthia Wolthuis as the new Pickens County DSS Director. Ms. Wolthuis will begin her role on Wednesday, April 17th.

March 25, 2024- On March 20, 2024, Special Agents with the South Carolina Department of Social Services, Office of Inspector General, arrested a Charleston County woman in connection with fraudulently receiving $36,201.00 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

March 25, 2024- On March 20, 2024, Special Agents with the South Carolina Department of Social Services, Office of Inspector General, arrested a Richland County woman in connection with fraudulently receiving $30,314.00 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

SCDSS Celebrates Child and Adult Care Food Program Week

March 11, 2024 - The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), a federally-funded program operated by the South Carolina Department of Social Services’ (SCDSS) Division of Early Care and Education, is celebrating healthy food and nutrition during CACFP Week, held March 10th-16th. CACFP strives to combat hunger and promote better nutrition in South Carolina by reimbursing child care centers, adult care centers, child care homes, afterschool programs, and emergency shelters that serve USDA-qualified healthy meals and snacks.

DSS Announces New Abbeville County Director
