Notice of Abandonment - Spartanburg

Sept. 11, 2018 - Officials with the Spartanburg County Department of Social Services report that an infant was recently placed with a local fire department under the Safe Haven for Abandoned Babies Act, or Daniel’s Law.

Baby boy Josiah is a Caucasian male child who, at 9 days old, was taken to the North Spartanburg Fire Department at 8767 Asheville Highway, Spartanburg, S.C., on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, at approximately 7:13 p.m. A note was attached to the child stating that his name is Josiah, but there was no last name.

Under the Safe Haven Act, a permanency planning hearing will be on Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Spartanburg County Courthouse, 180 Magnolia St., Spartanburg, S.C. 29306. Any person wishing to assert parental rights in regard to the infant must do so at this hearing.
