Notice of Abandonment - Greenwood

November 18, 2016 - Greenwood, SC - Greenwood County Department of Social Services officials report that an infant was born on November 11, 2016, and abandoned at Self Regional Hospital located in Greenwood on November 13, 2016, and placed under the protection of Safe Haven with medical professionals. Upon the information and belief of the agency, the child falls under the jurisdiction for “Daniel’s Law,” the Safe Haven for Abandoned Babies Act.

Baby Doe, born November 11, 2016, is a bi-racial male that weighed about 6 pounds and 15 ounces and was 20 inches in length at birth. The infant is now in DSS custody.

Under the Safe Haven Act, a permanency planning hearing will be held at 1:30 p.m. on January 9, 2017, at the Greenwood County Family Court, 528 Monument St., Greenwood, SC 29646.

Any person wishing to assert parental rights regarding the infant must do so at this hearing.
