Notice of Abandonment -- Laurens

April 25, 2017 - Laurens County Department of Social Services officials report that an infant was born April 21, 2017, abandoned at Laurens Memorial Hospital, and placed under the protection of Safe Haven with medical professionals on April 23, 2017. Upon the information and belief of the agency, the child falls under the jurisdiction for “Daniel’s Law,” the Safe Haven for Abandoned Babies Act.

Baby Doe is a white female weighing 6 pounds and 1 ounce and was 19 inches in length at birth. The infant is now in DSS custody.

Under the Safe Haven Act, a permanency planning hearing will be held at the Laurens County Family Court, 100 Hillcrest Square, Laurens, SC 29360 on June 8, 2017, at 1:30 pm.

Any person wishing to assert parental rights regarding the infant must do so at this hearing.
