Notice of Abandonment - Greenwood - August

August 22, 2017 - Greenwood County Department of Social Services officials report that infant twins with the estimated date of birth of August 18, 2017, were abandoned on the same date at the North West Fire Department in Greenwood County. Upon the information and belief of the agency, the two babies fall under the jurisdiction of “Daniel’s Law,” the Safe Haven for Abandoned Babies Act.

Baby Doe A is an African American girl weighing 3 pounds and measured 15 inches long.

Baby Doe B is an African American girl weighing 3 pounds and 3 ounces, and she measured 15-and-a-half inches long.

Both girls are now in DSS custody.

Under the Safe Haven Act, a permanency planning hearing will be held at 1:30 p.m. October 2, 2017, at Greenwood County Family Court, 528 Monument St., Greenwood, SC 29646. Any person wishing to assert parental rights regarding the infants must do so at this hearing.
