Meacham Steps Up As Acting State Director
DSS Chief of Staff, Joan Meacham will serve as acting state director of DSS following Alford’s retirement. Joan Meacham has over 30 years of experience in SC State Government. She is the retired State Director of Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services and moved up through the ranks in that agency after 8 years with SC Dept. of Juvenile Justice. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, she has a BS in Psychology, Magna Cum Laude and a M. Ed. with a major in Counseling. Joan has served in leadership positions in many non-profit organizations and public entities.
