DSS Charges Richland County Woman with Food Stamp Fraud

March 25, 2024- On March 20, 2024, Special Agents with the South Carolina Department of Social Services, Office of Inspector General, arrested a Richland County woman in connection with fraudulently receiving $30,314.00 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

Shakeerah Renee Washington, age 35, was charged with one (1) count of Fraudulent Acquisition or Use of Food Stamps with a value more than $10,000 and two (2) counts of Forgery, less than $10,000. Washington was booked at the Richland County Detention Center.

The case will be prosecuted by the Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office. The related warrant can be found here.
