COVID-19 Heightened Risks

Adjusting to life changes in response to COVID-19 may be overwhelming for children and adults. The South Carolina Department of Social Services and other agencies are poised to help families remain stable and strong during this difficult time.

While families across the state are doing the best they can to cope with life changes during the pandemic, school and workplace closings and other stressors can take an emotional toll and increase the risk for abuse and neglect. The community’s watchful eye is especially critical during this time of social distancing and these resources provide important information and guidance for reporting suspected situations of abuse and/or neglect.
